THE ALAJMO FAMILY PROUDLY CELEBRATES THIS IMPORTANT ANNIVERSARY WITH A menu dedicated to a coffee blend, created exclusively by the Giamaica Caffè roasting laboratory, and an iconic espresso cup, crafted by the historic Geminiano Cozzi porcelain manufacturer.
The venue first opened in 1638 under the name “Il Rimedio,” referring to the Malvasia wine sold inside, which was believed to “strengthen the limbs and awaken the spirit.” On May 28, 1775, Giorgio Quadri landed in Venice from Corfu with his wife Naxina and decided to invest the family’s savings into a place that served “hot black water.” The couple purchased what was then Il Rimedio, located beneath the Procuratie Vecchie. This marked the beginning of Gran Caffè Quadri’s story, which saw another key moment in 1830, when the Vaerini brothers took over management and renovated the interiors, adding the Quadri Restaurant on the upper floor.
Today, the three establishments Gran Caffè Quadri, Bistrot Quadrino, and Ristorante Quadri each offer their own unique soul and culinary identity.
